Albuquerque, NM – August 13, 2013 New Mexico’s thriving biotechnology companies continue to grow at a healthy pace. A convergence of several factors have come together to create an active cluster of biotech start-ups: lots of new technologies coming from UNM and the labs, an active community of experienced entrepreneurs who see the commercial opportunities to bring innovative products to consumers, and a local base of individual investors who have stimulated the growth. But more capital investment on a bigger scale is what’s needed to transform the cluster into an established industry in the state. For a thorough analysis of the issues and players, see Dan Mayfield’s article, “An Outbreak of Innovation,” linked below, from the August 2 edition of Albuquerque Business First.
