NMBio – The Innovation Imperative

NMBio will kick off its 2018 speaker series by showcasing one of the state’s leading entrepreneurs and supporters of the bioscience community — Stuart “Stu” Rose. His topic: The Innovation Imperative.

The recent surge of startups and innovation in New Mexico is truly encouraging, but it is important to note that a strong foundation of innovation should be within every company.  Innovation is crucial as it gives companies an edge in penetrating markets faster and provides a better connection to developing markets, which can lead to bigger opportunities.  It can help advance original concepts and facilitate growth while keeping employees engaged and assuring the company’s strategy is accurate.

Stuart “Stu” Rose, founder of the BioScience Center and FatPipe ABQ, is at the forefront of innovation in New Mexico and abroad.  Stu has frequently said, “If you can’t adapt, changes becomes threats instead of opportunities.”  Stu’s knowledge, experiences, and approach to innovation are incredibly valuable for individuals and companies. A serial entrepreneur with more than four decades in pharmaceutical manufacturing and a leader of 20-plus startups involved in developing vaccines, medical devices and research tools, Stu has been at the forefront of innovation.  In New Mexico, he was former CEO of OSO Biopharmaceuticals and is founder of the BioScience Center and FatPipe ABQ — collaborative workspaces aimed at helping entrepreneurs achieve success. He currently serves on NMBio’s Board of Directors, New Mexico’s Bioscience Authority, and is a Director at Agilvax, a start-up entity with a novel platform for the development of vaccines.  Stu’s approach to supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem is based on his belief that the private sector needs to take the lead.
