Cara Michaliszyn, STC New Ventures Development Manager, accepts award on behalf of STC.

Albuquerque, NM – March 21, 2014 STC.UNM has been selected as one of the recipients of the first-ever Innovation Ecosystem Awards. STC.UNM received the 2014 Innovation Ecosystem Award, in the nonprofit category, from the Global Innovation Summit at its conference recently held in San Jose, California. The inaugural award was given to top ecosystem-growing companies and organizations that are specifically recognized for nurturing the success of others and for the innovative ways they generate more activity around themselves, creating multiplier effects beyond them that increase the growth of entire ecosystems. Summit organizers stated: “We believe that STC.UNM catalyzes the ideals of connectivity, diversity, openness, and trust that are essential to the innovation process, and we feel that its practices embody the ideals of an innovation ecosystem.”

The Global Innovation Summit, an annual conference held in Silicon Valley and hosted by a consortium of organizations, was started in 2012 with the aim of bringing together leading entrepreneurs, executives, scientists, inventors, venture capitalists, journalists, investors, policy makers, social entrepreneurs, and innovation thought leaders to learn about and share experiences in how to cultivate environments that foster innovation. This year’s summit and global innovation week provided more than 20 events and drew more than 1,000 participants from 50 countries.

The organizers’ mission is to help individuals and organizations across the globe grow their own innovation ecosystems to create innovative products, provide new solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges, and building sustainable economic growth.
