UNM’s Economic Forum Speaker Analyzes Factors Needed for Statewide Economic Growth

Albuquerque, NM – August 20, 2014 The University of New Mexico’s Economic Development Forum (EDF) held its monthly meeting on August 19 at the UNM Science & Technology Park. The EDF is an advisory group created by the STC.UNM Board of Directors to provide input, guidance and advice to STC and UNM President Frank on UNM’s economic development goals. EDF members come from the UNM and business communities. Members meet to share knowledge and experience on how UNM and the business community can expand their roles and contributions in establishing an entrepreneurial economy. The speaker for the August 19th meeting was Dr. Beverlee McClure, President & CEO of the Association of Commerce & Industry of New Mexico, the statewide chamber of commerce. Ms. McClure noted that the state needs to start investing in New Mexico start-up companies and news coverage needs to report more on New Mexico start-up activities as two areas that would contribute to the state’s economic growth.
