Dr. Sanjay Krishna, Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Director of the Center for High Technology Materials at the University of New Mexico is one of a growing breed of academic researchers interested in being directly involved in the commercialization of their discoveries. Dr. Krishna and his wife and co-researcher, Dr. Sanchita Krishna, are the co-founders of STC start-up SKINfrared, LLC, a company developing infrared detector devices based on technology developed by the Krishnas and their team. The company has developed an infrared camera called the Advanced Longwave Infrared-imaging and Analysis System (ALIAS) for the diagnosis of skin cancers. To read more about the technology and about the Center for High Technology Materials, see Dan Mayfield’s article, “Krishna’s a Rare Combo: Professor-Entrepreneur,” from the November 8, 2013 edition of Albuquerque Business First, linked below.
