Main Street Crowd co-founder Marshall Neel to speak
Albuquerque, NM – March 3, 2015 STC.UNM hosts Marshall Neel, the co-founder of Main Street Crowd, Wednesday, March 4 as part of its spring 2015 Breakfast Seminar Series. The seminar begins at 8 a.m. in the auditorium of Building 800, located at 800 Bradbury SE on the corner of Basehart and Bradbury.
The words “community” and “sustainability” are two words not often connected to crowdfunding but should be. Neel will discuss how organizing local communities around entrepreneurial endeavors can increase awareness, promote sustainability of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and improve results.
Neel’s dual careers as a bank executive and an attorney, a degree in human and community services, and graduation from several bank schools, including the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking, have provided him with a unique combination of management experience and education keenly suited to his efforts today in furthering economic development at the community level.
He has a thorough understanding of the human networks that have supported business development for decades as well as the challenges faced by small business start-ups and existing businesses struggling to find capital.
Neel received his bachelor’s degree from New Mexico State University and his law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law. He is co-founder of Main Street Crowd, an economic development platform for communities with a non-profit focus.
Neel is also on the executive team of New Mission New Mexico, a national initiative to change the paradigm in how we transition our veterans from the military to civilian workforce and how we promote the entrepreneurial efforts of veterans.
STC.UNM, the University of New Mexico’s technology-transfer and economic-development office, is hosting its spring breakfast seminar series. The seminars are free and open to the UNM community and the public, but registration is required. Breakfast will be provided.
